Dear Friends,
Well, TW3, as we used to say.

That Was The Week That Was!

It was the week beginning Tuesday March 4 all the way to Sunday March 9, three events that I wanted to write to you about but it just went by too fast..

On Sunday March 9 Carol and I and a few others from Berkshire traveled up to Burlington, Vt. for a celebration of the life of Scott “Renzo” Renzoni, our long-time colleague here at The Bookstore, who died so unexpectedly back in January.

As you’ll hear me say in the accompanying video, we are still bereft of our loss, and gutted as well, here on Housatonic Street.

Renzo was an actor, and a poet, which made him just right to work (and play) here at The Bookstore. And, of course, he was so much more. . . .
He was a mimic, a comic, and a most cheerful presence. He was reliable, thoughtful, and well, delightful.  And the truth is, you really don’t find out how many people someone touches until they all gather in one spot to pay tribute.

For those of you who were able to make it to the one we had here at the Elayne Bernstein Theater at Shakespeare & Co last month, this was just a wonderful reprise of the outpouring of love for the man.

Please take some time and enjoy the link.

And now for something entirely different.

Later Sunday evening, at 7 pm C-Span Book Show aired our event for Eoin Higgins at the Lenox Library for his book, “Owned: How Tech Billionaires on the Right Bought the Loudest Voices on the Left” back on Friday, February 21st. It was a packed house, so our grateful thanks go to our neighbor for co-hosting.

Someone has to take on the duplicity of the hard right’s money and power and who better than Berkshire’s own native investigative reporter Eoin Higgins!  He started writing this book over a year ago, and it’s publication has arrived just as the pulled curtain reveals the true consequences of the coup.

I had wanted to alert you all to the airing, but as I say, the week went by too quickly. Luckily, C-Span Book Shows remain available, so please follow this link to view it at your convenience.

And last of all, here’s a link to the WAMC Book Picks show I was on back on Tuesday March 4. I am honored and happy to be allowed to spread the word about the books I care about, and I am always pleased to hear your responses to my appearances, so I thank you.

Thanks for reading.
Matt
