First off, many of you know about a special
group of guys I sometimes hang out with.
We’re the “Five Wise Guys”, which itself is
a subset of The Third Act Project.

You should check it out, if you haven’t already.
I promise you a (pretty) good time!

Reason I tell you this is one of the things many
of us do on our “Five Wise Guys” platform is act.
And one of our acting teachers , Pat
Bonavitacola, needs some help. So the
Five Wise Guys have put together a
GoFundMe campaign for Pat. Here’s the link,
complete with our video presentation:

Just to be fair, Pat groans at my jokes just like
most of the rest of you do.  It’ll  just be lovely
to have him back home again.

This coming Friday, April 12 at 6 pm The Bookstore
Is hosting two favorite sons, Rich Berlin and Owen Lewis,
two psychiatrists who are also poets.  Or two poets who
are also psychiatrists.

Both Rich and Owen have new books this spring. Rich’s
“Tender Fences”, his fifth collection of poems, spans the
arc of his career as a doctor, the years of psychiatric training,
the years of practice, and the deep rewards that grow from
that life.

Owen’s book, “Knock Knock” focuses on aging, especially
memory loss, with humor as well as courage, solace and meaning.  The title poem goes on long enough for one of
the characters to say, “This is getting old” to which his
partner replies, “So are you.”

Both books are published by Dos Madres Press, one of the
finest of the small presses in operation today.

We are pleased and honored for our two local poets to
appear here at The Bookstore , 6 pm Friday April 12.
It’ll be lovely to see you here as well.

Thanks for reading.
Matt
