Dear Friends,
Here’s something special:
On this Thursday July 17 at 7 pm we welcome 5 writers from Mastheads, an experimental public arts and humanities project based in Pittsfield, whose mission is “to connect residents to the literary history of the region, create a forum for thinking about place, and support the production of new creative work.”
I’ve known a little something of Mastheads since they began their work in 2016, but this is the first year we’re bringing them to The Bookstore, and I’m very excited about doing so.

Each summer five writers from across disciplines – poetry, fiction, non-fiction, translation, playwriting, and comics – are selected for a three-week residency program at Herman Melville’s Arrowhead, home of Berkshire Country Historical Society.
Residents are provided exclusive access to a rustic, open air studio each an architectural interpretation of the original structure from which one of five American Renaissance authors, Longfellow, Thoreau, Melville, Hawthorne, and Holmes wrote in the Berkshires.
Come this Thursday to meet and hear Sofi Thanhauser, Matt Broaddus, Justine Gelfman, Sylvia Jones, and Lily Goldberg present from their ongoing work.
To be followed by drinks and conversation at Get Lit wine bar.
Hope to see you here.
Thanks for reading,
Matt
