What could be more timely this week than a book launch for a novel about legal immigrants in the United States suffering illegal treatment by government authorities.

Please make plans to join us Thursday, June 12th, at 5 pm for “Crossing from Shore to Shore”, Jean Moore’s third novel, which answers that question with yet another: What happens when a love story turns into a political nightmare?

Jean Moore has taken a page from her own family history and crafted a fictional tour de force that grabs readers by the throat, saying “Listen up, this is what they did, this is what they can do”, and if we’re not aware, we’re just not paying attention.

Jean is telling us: Pay attention!  She’ll be at The Bookstore this coming Thursday, June 12th, at 5 pm. She’ll be joined in conversation with fellow novelist and friend, Ellen Meeropol.

Ellen is author of, most recently, “Her Sister’s Tattoo”, a novel also set in the thorny intersection of family loyalty and political conviction.

Ellen is married to Rober Meeropol, the younger son of Ethel and Julius Rosenberg. She is a founding board member of the Rosenberg Fund for Children, which was started in 1990 in honor of his parents’ refusal to ‘name names’. Ellen’s next novel, “Sometimes an Island”, is forthcoming in spring, 2026.

Jean Moore and Ellen Meeropol, this Thursday at 5 pm at The Bookstore.

The night before, Wednesday June 11 at 7 pm, I’ll be at Hot Plate Brewing in Pittsfield for another book launch, this one for “The Slip” by debut novelist Lucas Schaefer. Lucas is a writing colleague of Hot Plate owner, Mike Dell’ Aquila, who is proud to host his friend at the onset of his national tour. Read more about that here: https://www.hotplatebeer.com/events

Thanks for reading!
Matt
