![]() This coming Sunday April 6 at 4 pm I’ll be in conversation with author Pam Wick of Washington, D.C., sister of our own Cynthia here in Lenox. The title of her memoir, “Honestly, She Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” lives up to the great double entendre it is meant to be. When her folks moved into Lana Turner’s old house in Los Angeles, the tour buses kept it on their route, and her dad finally installed a big sign permanently on their front lawn. Honestly! Then, after her divorce from the son of high-powered political family, it’s herself, who ‘doesn’t live here anymore’. Honest, soul-searching, sometimes very, very funny (I’m going to ask her to read some of those passages!), Pam Wick takes us on a journey of recollected growing self-consciousness that does the memoir genre proud. Hey, we had a pretty good time the other day, Tuesday April 1, celebrating our 49th anniversary. The outpouring of love (and poetry) goes both ways you know. And irony of ironies, Pam Wick’s memoir of her life in Washington, D.C. serves well to remind me that’s where I came from, just before I moved here to The Berkshires fifty years ago. We’re now firming up our schedule of more events to celebrate this coming year. Look for it on our website. And, as always, Thanks for reading. Matt p.s. I’ll be on the radio next week, Tuesday April 8 at 11:30 am with Joe Donahue on the WAMC Bookpicks show. Give a listen! 90.3 on your FM dial, or streaming on wamc.org (the poster above was created and gifted to us for our Anniversary by the incredible Dolphin Studio. Thank you so much. We love it so much. We have prints for sale in the Bookstore! ) |
