Dear Friends,

Two events for you this weekend. Friday at 5, and Sunday at 4.

Friday evening Feb 21 at 5 pm we are hosting, along with Lenox Library, Eoin Higgins, author of Owned: How Tech Billionaires on the Right Bought the Loudest Voices on the Left, just published this month by Bold Type Books.

Owned is probably the most timely book we’ve ever presented. It’s the story of the collusion between new wealth and new journalism. Its major figures are Elon Musk and Peter Thiel on the one side and Glenn Greenwald and Matt Taibbi on the other.

We are grateful to the library for offering the Sedgwick Reading Room for the event, which will be recorded by C-Span for its Book TV series.

Eoin is a Berkshire native, journalist and historian. I’ve known him and his family for many years and it is a real treat to have him begin his book tour here in Lenox. He will be joined in conversation with Dr. Daniel Neilson, author and professor of political economy at Simon’s Rock College in Great Barrington.

And on Sunday Feb 23, we will welcome back Lisken Van Pelt Dus here at The Bookstore for a poetry reading starting at 4 pm.

She’s read here before, and I always jump at the chance to have her back again. Lisken’s new book How Many Hands to Home is published by Mayapple Press, a small literary press in Woodstock, N.Y.  Our program on Sunday will feature the author reading from her book and also in conversation with her publisher, poet Judith Kerman. Also in attendance will be some of Lisken’s former students from Monument Mountain High School.

Read more about Lisken and her work here, especially Colin Harrington’s blurb!

You know, It is a joy for us to host events like these.  So many of you have been so kind and supportive especially these last few weeks since we lost Renzo.  In his honor we will be devoting all of April to poetry readings, both live and on line.  Watch this space, as they say, for further details.

And, as always,
Thanks for reading.
